Q. What can I expect at my InBeaute Photography portrait session?
A. Initially, we’ll spend some time getting to know you and learn the personal image that you want to
convey through your portrait. We
have excellent make-up artists if you wish to hire their services.
Their cosmetic touches will
considerably enhance the finished portrait and increase your satisfaction.
If you are doing your own hair and makeup please arrive ready to
be photographed. InBeaute Photography
uses professional lighting designed to flatter your face and create an image that will reproduce well in print
or on the web. We will photograph a variety of poses, facial expressions and clothing changes according to your
service
needs. Please
reserve time accordingly; 20 minutes - 90 minutes in camera
room plus (when scheduled in advance)
another thirty minutes to view, order and pay for your portrait purchases. During the viewing process we will discuss
what post-session services you need. Today, 90% of our clients invest in the additional service of professional
retouching of your portrait to soften any wrinkles, remove any blemishes, smooth out skin tones, etc.
Retouching services range from $30.00 - $100.00 per image depending on what services you request.
Q. What to Wear?
A. Almost all clients plan on three outfits so they can project three different images.
The days of needing just one portrait are over due to the level of image saturation and sophistication that prospective
clients experience every day. You really need to have the client "get to know you" via the portraits on your website.
This will help differentiate you from your competition.
* First outfit can be high quality business attire for meeting with or presenting to one of your
best clients.
* Second outfit can be a slight variation on the first, e.g. different blouse or jewelry for women and different shirt/tie or go
without a tie for gentlemen, sometimes known as "business casual."
* Third outfit should tell more about your personal life, style,
personality and/or
humor.
Choose
clothing that flatters
your face. Mid-range neutral solid colors are best for close-up headshots both men and women.
To be blunt, bright whites will give the impression of an additional ten pounds to your frame; plaids and patterns can
appear to add on five pounds. You want to draw attention to your face and use your clothing as a frame.
Simple, classic styles will not look dated as styles change. Watch out for fabrics that wrinkle badly.
A good fit is important for your suit and shirt/blouse. The camera will show if your clothing is either too tight
or drapes poorly on your body. If you have an afternoon portrait session, you may want to consider bringing a
fresh shirt to wear. If you choose not to wear a suit or jacket, remember
that some whites or light pastel shirts tend
to
look washed out and draw attention away from your face. A better choice for business casual is a jacket with an open shirt or sweater.

JEWELRY: Necklaces should be short and go with the neckline of the shirt/blouse. Earrings need to separate from hair. Pins can
be attractive but need to be fairly large to show up in print. Women with long hair should choose a jacket that is a different color
tone from their hair, otherwise the color of the hair and jacket tend to run together.
Q. Do I need to do any special grooming?
A. YES. You want to look your best, so pay extra attention to your grooming before your portrait session. If you need a fresh
haircut, have it done a few days ahead. You are responsible for your hair; any retouching to your hair style is charged by the
minute and usually costs $30.00 or more. Facial shine is extremely detrimental to a great portrait. If your skin is oily, shiny or
perspires heavily, you should dust it lightly with cosmetic powder. This goes for men, too. MEN: you may want to shave an
hour before your appointment to avoid the “five o’clock shadow” look. If you wear a beard or mustache, they should be neatly trimmed.
Q. Should I do my own makeup?
We, like many photography studios, subcontract out for makeup services and hire professionals with all the right supplies and training.
The minimum charge for time, travel and materials is $100.00 per person. A second option is to make an appointment at either a deparment
store cosmetic counter, or a M.A.C. makeup store at half the cost. You just have to allow for extra time prior to your portrait
session appt. Lastly, while we cannot duplicate all their expert services, when budget is an issue, we have asked clients to
(1) put on your makeup as usual with one extra layer of foundation all over the face and down into the neckline area if visible.
(2) put your blush on as usual but BRING BLUSH ON AND LIPSTICKS to the studio. We always need a second layer of blush
and lipstick. Men should know that your face may be powdered to minimize facial shine.
Q. What about glasses?
A. If you normally wear glasses, they should be part of your portrait. We control the reflections to the best of our ability by adjusting your pose.
However, we recommend you ask your optometrist to loan you a frame with no lenses for your portrait.
Q. What form of payment do you accept?
A. Payment is due at the time of the session. We gladly accept MC, VISA, check and cash.
And remember since we do offer Gift Cards, you may redeem your InBeaute Gift Cards as
they can be applied toward your charges.
